Homeschooling Resources

I've decided to start a list of homeschooling resources. I will feature one or two every couple of days, along with a small review, in the hopes that it will help someone out there in the blogosphere. Today I will start with my favorite resource: Homeschool Tracker is a wonderful software for keeping your homeschooling records. The creators were homeschoolers themselves. They have a Basic version that is free, with no strings attached. They plan to offer it for as long as the Lord allows them to. The Basic version is a good program in its own right. I used it for a year before they came out with the Plus version and it met my needs. The Plus version (HST+) has a lot more bells and whistles than the Basic version. It has a very low price for what you get. Once you pay for the version, all upgrades are FREE! The customer and technical support are superb. They host a forum where you can talk about how you use the program. If you are having trouble wrapping your mind around a concept, or how best to enter your curriculum, the forum users, as well as the creators, provide…

Busy, Busy, Busy!!!

We have been hard at work to "fall" clean. My hope was to have the house done by the time I went back to work the Monday after Thanksgiving, but I'm not sure that is doable. We are also moving around rooms, which creates quite a bit of disarray. I'm so sore I can barely handle it, but I love what I've done so far. On the blog front, I have added some widgets. It's hard to find good ones that are family friendly, but I think I have found some. I have some music picked out further down on the right. They are some of my favorites. I wasn't allowed to pick more than three of any artist, otherwise it would have been mostly Michael Card. He's my most favorite artist, period. I also added a verse of the month, Bible book of the month, and author of the day, along with various aquariums. I simply love tropical fish. Well, that's it for now. I have to go work on the laundry!

Ents Galore!

I've been working most of the day to further decorate my blog. I have added the celtic knotwork to the page, as well as added lots of pictures of ents to the background and About Me section. After trying several different graphics based on Greggory's drawing of an ent, I came up with two I liked. Well, I liked all of them, but some were busier than others. I decided to go with the white background for some contrast.

How Is My New Blog Scheme?

Today I worked on making my splash graphic for my blog. I'm not sure that the colors are too great. I would prefer purple and pink pansies, but I didn't think they went too well with the whole Entmoot theme. My husband has drawn an ent for me, but I have to scan it in and colorize it a bit. I'm trying to decide how to use it at this point. So, any comments on the visual aspect of my blog?

Don't You Just LOVE Autumn?

I absolutely enjoy autumn more than any other season. I love the wind, the smell of leaves being burned, the colors of the leaves as the sun hits them. I relish in watching the wind draw the leaves off the trees and shower the ground. I like waking up in the morning when it's so cool. It gives me the energy that the hot, humid summer drained away. My ideal place to live would be a place where the weather was autumn for most of the year, with a spring thrown in for growth. Is there such a place?
