Entmoot Academy
  • Welcome to the Entmoot!
  • What Is an Entmoot?

The Entmoot Academy Homeschool site is a repository of homeschooling links grouped by category which can be found in the Compendium of Resources. It is my hope that you find the resources you need as you grow through your homeschooling journey.  I have a lot more links to add, and will be trying to update as I'm able.  Do you have a website you think I should add?  Submit it here.

Okay, what is an entmoot? In J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings trilogy, an ent is a shepherd of the trees. An entmoot is a meeting of the ents to discuss issues. When we first started homeschooling, I asked my husband to come up with a name, and that's what he came up with. It has stuck. Even though we like Tolkien's writings, and have named our cats and homeschool after characters in the books, we are not obsessed with Lord of the Rings. We are totally devoted followers of the Risen Saviour Christ Jesus. Everything that we do, we do for His glory, including homeschooling our three children.

Kiddie Records ~ Classics from the Golden Age

Kiddie Records Weekly began in 2005 as a one year project devoted to the golden age of children's records. This period spanned from the mid forties through the early fifties and produced a wealth of all-time classics. Many of these recordings were extravagant Hollywood productions on major record labels and featured big time celebrities and composers. Over the years, these forgotten treasures slipped off the radar and it became their mission to give them a new lease on life by sharing them with today's generation of online listeners. Each week throughout the year they added a new recording and before they knew it, their one year project turned into three! Although they will not be continuing beyond 2007, Kiddie Records Weekly will remain online and they will update the Bonus Records section every now and then.

The UNL Libraries' Image and Multimedia Collections is currently home to over 85 collections and 250,000 items. Collections grow daily, thanks to partnerships between the Libraries and other units on campus. Comprised of a mix of teaching, historical, archival, and display -- collections range in subject matter from Art, Architecture & Interior Design to Comic Books to Textile Studies & Clothing to Water Resources. In addition to images, a variety of media types is supported, specifically audio and video as well as art, text, and music. For example, NET houses programming series (859 videos, "All About Books", "Big Red Wrap-Up", "Nebraska Stories", and "Recession Survival Guide" to name a few) in the NET Media Archives; and the School of Music has both audio recordings and digital images of programs for performances found in the Performances from the UNL School of Music.
